Objectives of the Course The course aims to teach students the fundamental principles and mechanisms of operation of power electronics devices.
Course Content Principles of operation of basic types of AC/DC, AC/AC: DC/AC and DC/DC converters. Operating characteristics and techniques for utilization thyristors and triacs. Performance characteristics of rectifier circuits. Operation of simple forced-commutated inverters and choppers. Gate firing circuits and pulse transformers. Methods of delay angle and sequence control.
Course Methods and Techniques Lectures:
Conceptual Explanations: In-depth lectures on theoretical concepts such as converter operations, characteristics of thyristors and triacs, and control methods.
Visual Aids: Use of slides, diagrams, and videos to illustrate complex concepts and circuit operations.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

3 Students will be able to analyze the performance characteristics of various rectifier circuits and identify key factors in their design.
4 Students will be able to design gate firing circuits and pulse transformers and explain their use in power electronics systems.
5 Students will be able to apply delay angle and sequence control methods and evaluate their effects on power electronics circuits.
6 Students will gain practical experience in building and testing power electronics circuits through laboratory work and simulation tools,
