Objectives of the Course Introducing engineering ethics and familiarizing engineering students with ethical theories and problem solving techniques as well as ethical problems of today’s professional life. Understanding ethical issues that may arise in professional life as an engineer and to be able to make decisions that are ethical in cases of controversy.
Course Content General and Professional Ethics is an introductory course that explores many of the ethical issues that a practicing engineer might encounter in the course of his or her professional engineering practice. The course contains a discussion of ethical theories, develops several ethical problem-solving methods, and contains case studies based on real events that illustrate the problems faced by engineers. The case studies also show the effects that engineering decisions have on society.

History of Ethic, Professionalism and Codes of Ethics, Understanding Ethical Problems, Theories of Ethical Risks, Ethical Problem Solving Techniques, Safety, and Accidents, The Rights and Responsibilities of Engineers, Ethic and Institutions, Environmental Ethics, Ethical Issues in Engineering Practice.
